Superdawg Drive-in is a beloved family-owned fast food drive-in restaurant that has been a local staple of the Norwood community since 1948. Husband and wife co-founders Maurie and Flaurie opened the stand to work their way through college after WWII. Today, Superdawg has grown into a drive-in known for its friendly family atmosphere and delicious food. Superdawg has been featured on several TV programs, including the Food Network's "Unwrapped" and the PBS show "Check, Please!" Superdawg Drive-in's commitment to excellent service and delicious hot dogs has made it a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. 
The Garage Bar & Sandwiches opened in 2011 and has become a neighborhood favorite. The restaurant's ambiance is a perfect blend of warmth and industrial design, creating a unique and comfortable atmosphere. The Garage Bar has a menu that specializes in sandwiches and offers appetizers, daily specials, soup, and pizza. 
Zia's Social is a bar and restaurant in Chicago specializing in regional Italian cuisine with seasonal ingredients and a wood-burning pizza oven. The menu is frequently updated, and plenty of seating is available for private events. Zia's Social plans to expand to an indoor/outdoor patio capable of accommodating up to 150 guests. The bar regularly hosts live music events. Come for a fun bar atmosphere and stay for the delicious brunch, dinner, drinks, and appetizers.
Pasta D’Arte greets guests with one-of-a-kind medieval doors and Roman-style columns, giving its entrance an air of old-world grandeur. The interior is equally inspired, featuring warm lighting, dazzling chandeliers, rustic brick, and rich wood tones. Chef and owner Mark Giannini specialize in authentic Italian pasta as well as an array of Abruzzese-inspired meat dishes and Barese-influenced fish entrees. 
Norwood Royal Cigars is a well-regarded cigar shop situated on Northwest Highway, known for its dedication to quality and service. The largest cigar humidor in the Midwest is found here, housing a broad range of high-quality products from top manufacturers. The shop's knowledgeable staff and diverse selection make it an exceptional choice for beginners and seasoned cigar aficionados alike.

Things to Do

Since 1922, the Norwood Park Memorial Day Parade has been a cherished local tradition. Starting at Onahan School, the parade route winds through the community and concludes at Taft High School. The parade includes a flag-raising ceremony, wreath presentations, and live musical performances. 
Another large community event, The Northwest Side Irish Parade, is a highly anticipated annual event in the Norwood neighborhood that celebrates St. Patrick's Day. The Northwest Side Irish Parade has been a tradition for over 16 years and draws thousands of attendees and over 100 participants each year. 
Throwback Music Fest is an annual end-of-summer music festival held in conjunction with the Gladstone Park Neighborhood Association. The festival showcases music and entertainment from the 1950s to the 1990s. In addition to live music, other exciting events include a classic car show, a pet parade, and a first responders honor ceremony.
Norwood Park spans over 16.23 acres and features numerous amenities, including an outdoor swimming pool complete with a water slide, youth sports programs, music and craft classes, a fitness center, tennis courts, a running track, and an inline skating area. Norwood Park also offers special events such as outdoor movies, Halloween parties, and Dinner with Santa. 
Additionally, William Howard Taft High School, the inspiration for the popular musical "Grease," provides opportunities for public engagement through its athletics games, holiday chorale performances, and live theatrical productions. 


Old Norwood Park is served by the Chicago Public School District and is near several excellent private schools.
